I set up my Apex System and had a few questions. But first, the following is a summary of my readings:

Temp : 20.6
pH : 8.06
ORP : 921
Tmpx4 : 78
Condx4: 9.5

The following are my questions:
1. Can Temp be configured to display other than Celcius
2. Manual mentions that probes came calibrated. So, I did not recalibrate any of the probes. What has been all of your experience?
3. How should I interpret the ORP reading?
4. I believe the Tmp4 is referring to Salinity. What does 78 mean?
5. What does Conductivity mean and how should I interpret 9.5?

Thanks....

I can't answer many of your questions - but temp of 20.6 Celcius is only 69.08 Farenheit.

That's a wee bit chilly for a reef tank....

Hmmm..... Looks like I may need to calibrate the Temp probe. I have two 300w heaters in my 265 set to 75. Let me test the temperature using another gauge.

Well, that's a good question. I don't think I have an ORP probe? So, I'm confused as to why I'm getting a reading.

But you do have a PM2 for the conductivity right?

You can just disable the ORP and it will go away.

Edit: What firmware version do you have?

Go to configuration then click network setup it will be at the bottom of the page aquacontroller version ___

Do you have it hooked to your PC?

that is the current version. have you seen this manual yet?

1. Yes, but this must be done from the display pg 26 of the setup guide.
2. Definitely calibrate your probes.
3. If you do not have the ORP probe just disable it, you should be able to do this from the web interface. Configuration-probe set up then click disabled and update settings.
4. tempx4 (with PM2) is used for temp compensation for your conductivity probe.
5. conductivity is a measurement of the salinity of salt water in the aquarium as far as the 9.5 may just need to calibrate it. it should read about 53 mS/cm.

And that link is a great resource.

Thanks for the advice. That really helps. Looks like I'll have to recalibrate all my probes. I found out that my temperature probe was in fact set to Fahrenheit and not Celcius as I had imagined.

So, Jenn, is 20.6 Fahrenheit a wee bit chilly for a reef tank? :-)

Okay, I tried to calibrate the conductivity probe but getting a failed calibration each time. This was through the display unit. When I try through the web interface, I don't get an error when I save. However, how do I know it was calibrated? What should I be seeing on the conductivity setup screen? What should my conductivity reading be? And finally, how do I translate that to salinity?
