Been talking with Beccamc10 and trying to figure out what I want to get. I just want to see what peoples thoughts are. Differences?

Criteria:
- must be able to view parameters through phone/internet

I am getting one of the Apex Jr when they are released next month. The price point is very attractive and the features are pretty much what I need. They are designed to be used with a web browser or smartphone. Check them out. :)

I have 3 RKE and 2 RKL. I had a Apex but I like the ease of use of the RKE.

I am still new at Reef Keeping. (less than a year) I bought a Apex because several said they were easy. But before I got the Apex in the mail I found a RKE at a very good price. So I bought it also. I tried it first before I even opened the Apex. I got on DA forum and asked a few questions. They all got answered and solved any questions I had. On my big tank I have a RKE with 4 PC4 and 1 expansion socket. I felt like the on line instruction book was very easy to use. I then seen someone on here with a RKE for sale because she wanted a Apex. so I called her and asked her did she want to trade. and we did. So that one went on my 14 gal bio cube. I never used the Apex but I did look at the forums on RC for the Apex and the DA. (this was right after I accrued the 2 controllers) And everything I asked about both it looked to me like the DA unit was the best choice. And I am very happy with the RKE so far. Then I went crazy and bought another one then 2 RKLs. What are you wanting to do with it?

After owning both:
DA products are easier to program and get running IMO.
If you delve into advanced stuff the Apex is king.

At this point both are equal as far as monitoring via the web. That wasn't the case before, but with the MyReef 2.0 firmare/sofware it is.

Yeah... I cant throw my two cents in on a RKE, but I know the RKL was pretty simple to program due to the limited options.

I'll admit that programming the Apex at first seemed daunting, but its so flexible and the advanced programming starts getting easier once you get the hang of it. Not to mention, the Neptune forum on RC can answer just about any programming question you could ever imagine. Combined with Neptune's CS, there really isnt much of a comparison... Apex all the way.

I would first suggest to anyone who purchases an apex... throw the manual away..

go to the reef central Neptune Systems sponsor thread and download the "unofficial apex guide" and use THAT...

much more concise, easier to understand, lots of practical examples..

Ha. You think you are sooooooo clever. I gave my choice word to you on the phone just now so I will reframe from using it on here... They did suck last year. There ain't no denying.

And to think, I WAS going to go out of my way to pick up those polys for you in Macon. :lol2:

I thought they required at least a basic understanding of spelling and grammar to get into Tech. That would be refrain.</em>

All in good fun, of course! ;)
