Anyone have an idea about protecting a coral in your tank? This little guy seems to have an appetite for my prized rainbow acan, and I can't have that! I have some bird netting and some egg crate I can use.

OR, Rit...would it be possible to have you house my acan until this guy is done? Then I would probably bring him back up to you. He nips a little at some zoas, but nothing noticeable.

I'll give that a try! Fish are funny...I have a melanarus that never touches my corals. At least not that I ever see! :)

Thanks Rit! I'm sure other sponsors might do the same, but this is the reason I only buy from you. That, and you're the closest to me. :) I actually took one of the billion Gladware containers we have from deli meats and poked a bunch of holes in it. We'll see if she comes back out as she's been retracted ever since about an hour after I put the file fish in there. Rit, this is the same acan we bought from you and split up a while ago. It has nearly 20 heads now...from three!

I thought this coral was just retracted, but I'm starting to think the little ******* ate all the tissue! Totally bummed...

The gray part is stoney...

had a file fish that did the same thing. went after my acan and wesso in a bad way. took it out for a couple weeks and fed well. put it back in and was back at it within 2 hrs. sorry to hear it. would be great to be able to keep these fish in a reef tank

Even worse, I made a little Tupperware cage to protect that acan. The flippin fish managed to LIMBO underneath a tiny open space and get inside the housing! Meanwhile he hasn't touched a single aptasia and has mowed through another LPS

did u get it out? good thing is that it is an easy fish to catch. mine went after the aptasia first been then resorted to the lps

Wow, this fish is either brave or stupid! Even when it was inside the tupperware, it barely flexed when I went to move him! I DID notice one thing though about this animal. When it's obviously stressed it has tiny little spines much like a puffer fish. All over it's body. Little a-hole still has eaten my favorite coral. Rit, I have used pickling lime paste when I had one or two. But I have probably 50-75 now and some are in spots I can't reach.

Oh, I forgot...I'm pretty sure he also killed my fire shrimp. TBD...

Oh and Rit, you DID pull this one from one of your frag tanks. But I think think it must have been one without acans! This was that one we got from you, that Randy split up.

Sadly I have about 6 heads from about 10. I had a Chalice Acan War. My Chalice won Lol But i will gladly Cut a head or two off for you.

Last night before the lights went out, I went to check on everything. I saw a big aptasia I've been watching and went to curse this little guy. Then I looked over at the aptasia "garden" I used to have (a patch of about 15) and the whole thing was GONE!

Little dude is gonna have a belly ache after all that!

Yeah, I'm still going to need to find him a new home or bring him back up to you. Wouldn't be fair to sump him.
