Found it growing on 2 of my rocks, I took both rocks out. SHould I just toss them? I really dont want to, becasue they are both big pieces, but also dont want that stuff growing in my tank.

What are my options?
Thanks

Put them outside for a day in the sun and they should evaporate. If not, inject them with Joe's juice or Aipsasia X. I have a Heniochus angel you can borrow that eats them. I've seen him eating the new polyps but won't touch the bigger ones with tentacles.

Thanks man! Ill leave it outside and hopefully it kills them! The rock will be ok to be put striaght back in?

It will not be ok to put straight back in.

Why not try some peppermint shrimp? Not every shrimp will eat them, but they're great biological control.

I have an eel and sweetlips. So the rock is trash?

No!

You can do a number of things one of which is take it out and let dry...... Since you already took this action you basically have to follow through with it. Putting it back now could cause a Ammonia spike from die off on the rock.

Leave the rock outside for a few days, until dry and all living dead. You will know it is when it one no longer smells like death and two the rock is white. Before putting back in your tank make sure you give it a good wash off, multiple times. This will clear the rock of any debris, dead still on their. I typically do this a couple times during the drying. Once you've completely killed everything and cleaned it, it is ok to be put directly in the tank.

Edit: Sorry for the mess ^ I'm on my phone and don't feel like editing.

Welcome to the newb club my friend! I'm right there with ya! I found two of them on my LR. I boiled some water and dipped just the tip of the rock where it was growing in the water and scraped off the remains. For the other, I filled a syringe with the same boiling water and squirted the little bast, umm, guy.

Then I bought some Aptasia-X and haven't seen a single one since. Go figure.

Well, it works...lol...no harm either.

The GAI did that to get rid of their 5 billion.

Wasn't being critical just never heard of it. Was wondering if there was a specific reason or benefit to salt?
