Hi

Im sort of new to the hobby and new to the ARC site. I am looking to start a nice 125g tank, but I feel the stand / canopy is just as important as the tank itself.

So long story short, is there any place in the Atlanta area that sells something similar to this. I visited a few shops, but they just have the 'cookie cutter' tanks.

(im not sure of the size of my tank yet, this is just a link to the type of setup I am looking for)

I just found out one of my employees has 3 + 200 gallon tanks, (fresh and salt) so I have an 'expert' at my disposable.

Thanks

I am assuming this company is factoring in the cost of shipping into the product price since we all know nothing is free.

Is a less expensive price achievable?

Sure but not for a custom high quality stand. That stand and canopy IMO doesn't come close to the stands the LFS have in terms of appearance or quality. I would ask alot of questions before buying from that link posted.

Hi

thanks for the replies...

I was just interested in the tank style and canopy. The few I have seen are just the stand with no canopy.

Any suggestions for places that carry this type of stand / canopy?

Haha im not sure what he charges or how much you want to spend but from what ive seen on here Grouper can build whatever you want.

Edit: And yes the stand in the link looks pretty cheap, I'd have more faith in a bare 2x4 stand i built myself.

sorry everyone for not being more clear.

The link was just for reference. I would like to purchase a stand of that style (stand & canopy) locally, if possible. I am not ready to have anything custom built...

I am just starting out and although its painful, I am taking it slow.

So if anyone knows of a place that has them, please let me know

Thanks

Trust me you will want a custom stand no matter how big your tank will be. I learned very quickly a store bought cheap stand limits what you can do with it. Think ahead of the game: what type of equipment you will add inside the stand (sump style, controller, doser, lights, ballasts and fans.). Not saying your gonna add them all at one time but if you get serious you will be adding these other items down the rd.

I now have a custom stand and so glad I added doors and made the stand taller. Well worth it. There are a few guys here that make beautiful stands.

Went by Atlanta Aquarium this evening to check out the stands / canopy. I ended up purchasing a biocube 29g.

Solved that problem :)
