Are controller probes universal or proprietary?

No experience with controllers of any kind, so I was wondering if the probes made for the different kinds (apex, Reefkeeper, Pinpoint, etc) have universal fittings or if you must buy the specific manufacturers probes?

Specifically, I have an apex PH probe and was wondering if it would work on a Pinpoint PH controller. But, I was curious about others as well.

I buy the cheap ones on eBay. They are $12 or so
