Does anyone have a current report of the impurities and additives in Atlanta city water? I realize this can vary from time to time, so if you have a few from recent months/years that would be interesting.

Thanks

It should be available online. In my experience, they don't offer actual values just ranges (e.g. Below 20 ppt nitrate, not an actual number just an example). It varies seasonally or if they think they need to boost chlorine/choloromine or other factors. Water must meet or exceed EPA and EPD water quality standards.

Long story short: use an RODI unit if you want to use the water in your reef tank.

I currently have a freshwater tank, and would like to put together a reef, but simply throwing 100g of water down the drain every week would significantly increase my water bill. I know many people in the area report TDS readings out of the tap at around 100, so I was actually interested in using the waste water for my freshwater tank.

I saw the basic annual water reports, but they were very vague and didn't list many of the impurities (perhaps the concentrations are just too low to note?). The waste water TDS should still be lower than many people's tap water elsewhere so I am thinking it should be fine...assuming there is nothing out of the ordinary in terms of the mineral content.

Not sure about using it for a freshwater tank. I have had of it being done but I don't know how safe that would be. I do know people use it for gardening.

Go to your local city's website and quality water report should be aval online. If not they will give you a copy at the water Dept

The thing with TDS - total dissolved solids - is that you don't know just what those solids are. They could be harmless/inert or they could be nasty.
