Automatic top off

Hello all, had a question! I have the tunze osmolator nano ATO which is supposedly rated up to 50 gallons. Where does this figure come from? I'm setting up a larger tank soon. Couldn't I just use the same ato in my sump? Does the 50g figure come from display tank size or how many gallons in total and what would make it not work? Thanks in advance!

There is no reason it would not work. I use the standard Osmolators, and the main difference I see is the nano works off a float switch, vs the standard which uses an electric eye. The pump appears to be the same between the pumps. It should work.
