Bad nudi, bad. No cookie.

Soooo my monti frag I picked up at the meeting apparently had some of the evil nudibranchs/eggs thereof on it. I had to reposition it tonight because the darn snail moved it -- the lights had been off for 30-40 min, and when I took a closer look I saw about 6 of the little buggers.

Do they only eat montis? What do I do about them?

Also, if you picked up a monti frag, might be time to check it out closely.

when you start a thread you go all the way to the bottom and go to "manage attachments". Then you can upload them directly. When you are posting a reply go to "go advanced" and then to "manage attachments" from there.
Good luck with the nudis. I didn't get any monti from the meeting, but will be on the lookout for them.

I also brought home something from that meeting, Aiptasia. They came in on one of the GSP's I got with tickets.. So I tried Acroholic's remedy I read about last month. Gone

I brought home bryopsis Just noticed it tonight... There was a small patch of what I thought was hair algae on one of the rocks that one of the corals were on that I bought from someone. I thought I cleaned it all off. Even scrubbed it with a stiff brush.. I guess I didn't get it all, and it wasn't hair algae.. Little ferns growing on the lower part of my glass and a little in the sand

Dip, Dip and more Dip. I dip all of my coral before putting it in my tank. I'd highly recommend it as Mr. Root mentioned.

I certainly didn't mean anything negative by it towards the club, or anything! No no no. I just thought I should mention that I found them, and JUST IN CASE people should be aware. I was also pretty excited at having got a decent photo of one, and wanted to share it. It's the only monti I have, and I haven't seen these little guys ever before. It was mentioned, at the demo, that the dip does not kill the eggs.

I didn't hear any accusatory or negative tone in anyone else's post, either, and would feel pretty bad if my thread started something like that, to the point that I would opt just to delete the darn thing and go trawl some searches and try to muddle through what to do about it on my own.

Anyway, back to the main point of my post, what do I do with them? It's my only monti. Will they die if I remove it from the tank?

If you find you can't get rid of it using traditional methods of algae control, you may need to do what I did. Raise your magnesium to about 1600-1700 using Kent TechM. Do this slowly over week or so as overdosing can cause it's own issues. There's something in Kent's magnesium supplement that bryopsis can't stand.

If it was hair algae (aka bryopsis), it has the ability to heal after being manually pulled. It's kinda like Wolverine.
