I have a biocube 29 HQI..it came with a 150w MH with what i believe is an electronic ballast. I have heard from some people that electronic ballasts don't produce much heat although this one gets extremely hot...
is there such a ballast that i can use with this light that would not get hot?
can u switch from a magnetic ballast to an electronic ballast or is it always one type per light
i really just want something that doesnt produce as much heat and not sure if im able to switch ballasts

Following, because I also just got me a Bio 29 HQI, and I noticed the heat coming from the ballast to.

Hot is a relative term, but electronic ballasts shouldn't be too hot. They do run warm though. Why is the heat a problem? The light probably gives off more heat in the room than the ballast. You can replace it with any 150-watt electronic ballast, but you may have to wire a new plug to the light to adapt to the new ballast. Galaxy ballasts are great. But I would keep using what you have if it isn't a problem.
