Base rock

So the local store here in Warner Robins is stocking dead base rock. I'm not sure where it comes from, but it looks exactly like the MarcoRocks I got a few months ago.
He's only charging $5 per rock like this! He also said he could order a 50 pound box for $75! That's awesome right?!

Here's the one I got this morning.

$5 for that is a good deal for sure. Looks like dead Fiji to me. But hard to be exact. 50 for $75 is good too!!

I dont think that looks like Marco (or Fiji), how much does that piece weigh? It looks like its pretty dense and would be hard to cut, looks like reef saver from BRS.

Yeah dball I think you're right. I already started cutting it and it's extremely dense! I would say it weighed between 10-15 pounds but I'm not sure. He didn't weigh it at the store. All the rocks are $5 apiece.

Those are great for stacking but horrible for cutting. My preference is pukani and Fiji. Also have some Marco from years ago that was great to work with but pricey.

It might not be the best for cutting but for the price I'm gonna use it anyway. I'm a metal fabricator so there's something in my garage that can get the job done. lol

No problem. It's a masonry blade on an angle grinder. Now I can use steel wool and drill bits to get rid of the flat unnatural looking stuff and I have a couple nice linear pieces.

Yeow! I used about 25 lbs of reef saver in my 28g cube, liked it at first but didnt like the fact it was so difficult to cut. Looks like you have the right tools...

Really the reason I posted this is to let everybody know about this sweet deal. Maybe if enough salt people go in there the store will bump up the salt stuff.
