I have a mess under the 155g tank, a worse mess in the "fish room" behind the display, and a keeping room full of fish crap. This means I am going to upgrade everything and put all the display support system in the basement.

So here are the before shots:
1. Under the tank mess including sump, AC3, heaters, UPS, Vortech controllers, Osmolaor, Carbon, reurn Poseidon, live rock, etc.
2. The fish room mess (used to be a bar) including UV, chiller, Fuge DSB & Cheato, calcium reactor, kalk reactor, RO, top off container, denitrator, skimmer, etc.
3. Keeping room mess
4. 1.5" Holes in the floor behind display (lucked out as this is a small audio room.
5. Holes and view through he wall of existing sump.
6. Holes from the basement looking up.

More to come and feedback more than welcome!

Chris

Pictures of the basement area everything will go in, liverock in the stock tank, etc...

~20ft of linear space that will contain a 15' table to hold the 150g stock tank, 60g frag tank, 90g long sump/fuge, return pump as well as the reactors/skimmers/etc.

Chiller will be plumbed outside along with the skimmer venturi.

A work bench will be built where the bike is on the same wall as the filtration system....both benches should be completed by Tuesday. :)

You certainly have a lot of work ahead of you, I can't wait to see the transformation :)

Looks like you got one hell of a project ahead of you. If you need some more outlets down there LMK.

Thanks James - I am having my basement re-finished at the same time so I am going to have some of the work done by the contractors already on site. I am going to need to buy a couple of those long power stips. And you've seen my basement so I will have several dedicated circuits running to that secondary power panel. :)

Good timing!

A little progress. :) If anyone needs a great builder/basement refinisher let me know, Jeff is doing an incredible job on my basement as well as the support setup for my basement project.

The bench is 16' long and 40" deep and 36" tall. It's big!

1. Jeff helping me build the fish system support bench. (him building - me "helping")
2. Plenty of support for whatever I want to do
3. Bench test for Frag tank and Fuge/Return tank
4. Then added the stock tank with a good bit of LR already. I put my Euro-Reef on there to churn the water.
5. Sequence pumps - I'll be using the 3200 for the main return

So the overflows from the display will come down and flow into the stock tank. Then gravity will feed the frag tank which will feed the right side of the 90g sump. The first section of the sump will be a DSB with chaeto. The second section will also have a DSB with mangoves.

I will have 2 250w pendants over the frag tank and 1 250w 10k over the mangroves. The 6500 pc will go over the chaeto section. This way I will have the same lighting at night as I do on the display during the day.

I plan on have 2 large water containers next to the bench -1-RO and 1- salt. I want to do automatic water changes of a gallon everyday.

I also plan on running my chiller and skimmer venturi line outside above the bench. :)

Are you gonna use the 100gal rubbermade for a fuge? It would be sweet!

150g rubbermaid is the live rock sump - 200lbs of LR or so. The 90g long acrylic "sump" will have 2 refugiums in it.

My updates from the basement build....

I connected the stock tank > frag tank > return sump/fuge > Sequence 3200. Water tested with no leaks.

Pic #1: I finalized the overflow drains and return 1.5" pipes through the floor, into the basement and turned to drain into the side room where the bench is. I had to get this done quickly because they came through and hung all the drywall last week. Hope all my drip tests were accurate.

Pic #2: I built the connectors behind the tank for the drains and returns. I am sure there is an easier way to go from 1.5" to 1" but this way if I upgrade tanks, I can easily disconnect and reconnect to the new fittings.

Pic #3: This took forever connecting the Sequence up to the return 1.5 pipe for the display with the T's for the chiller and kitchen tank with all the right fittings and check valve....

Pic #4: I had the plumber run a water outlet down to the end of the support bench along with a support beam where I will mount the RO unit. This way I can tie straight into the outlet for RO then T off of it for any other use.

Pic #5: I have the overflows from the main display all connected and run all the way into the stock tank sump where ~200lbs of LR is cooking so far. You can also see the temporary flex hose for the kitchen tank not mounted yet.

Pic #6: Me drilling the holes through the wall for the kitchen tank. Can't wait to remove all the sump stuff in the kitchen and make that tank silent.

Should finish up the kitchen plumbing in the next few days and start plumbing the chiller, skimmer venturi, and utility hose through brick outside soon as well.

I need to make at least 150 gallons of salt water so I can run the stock tank, frag tank, and fuge for a little while before making the big switch.

I almost don't want to post with James's thread going but I will anyway.....

1. After buying a 1" concrete bit and a lot of pushing and patience, I was able to drill 3 holes through the brick of the house for the in/out for the chiller, the veturi, exit garden hose and the RO waste line.

2. Finally finished the return line plumbing for the main display, kitchen cube, and chiller. This took forever.

3. This is a mess right now but I have the basement system all running. 150 gallons in the stock tank with 250 lbs of LR flowing into the 60 gallon frag tank then into the 90 gallon sump. All saltwater now and my phosphates a low after cooking the rock for a month.

Had to fix a couple drip leaks from the bulkheads but all is good now.
I have the denitrator running along with carbon and the Rena canister filer for now.

4. Bench from the stock tank view

5. I hung 2 250w Hamilton pendants with Phoenix 14ks over the frag tank. They are on Sunlift Suspension cables so they are easy to lower and lift. I really like this frag tank with 3 sides black acrylic.

I can't wait to get everything done to start cleaning up all the wiring and stuff.

Looking Good!!! Whats with the DIY pvc reactors in the blue tub? Are they for Two Part or for Carbon?

DIY sulfur denitrator, works like a champ. I used water change water to fill the stock tank and cycle so when I checked the nitrates, they were a little high. Since I will be joining this system with the existing running display, I want to get the parameters as close as possible before I flip the switch (1 day).
