Good morning to all.Im in the process of putting my 150 together and need a little help with setting up my sump.It has 3 parts to it and is drilled for the return,I know where the skimmer is going.I think that the bio balls go int the middle and not sure but I have a sponge(where does it go?)and I think there should some other stuff but not sure? Please help me?

Can you post a picture of it? I'm not a fan of bio balls or sponge filters so with three sections, I'd go with skimmer, refugium, return. Also add a filter sock to the output from the tank where it comes into the sump. If you don't want a refugium, put live rock in that section instead. Or use it for add on pumps for UV, GFO and or/carbon if you are going to run any of those and/or add a probe holder.

Edit: Here is a link to the first of a three part article on sumps that might help as well.

Hi, my sump also has three section as well...
It overflows into sump and skimmer is in the 1st chamber. then it overflows to the bio-ball area...(Biggest part of my sump) and drips down to return section after the heater and the sponge to stop the bubbles. i am going to take the bio balls out and be using it as refugium or some sort... on then it is pumped back in to display tank by return pump... hope this helps... here is the site to the sump i am using... and picture of my sump before starting it over... *(yesterday)...
good luck~~~ ^^

Where are all these bio-balls coming from? Is there a bunch of castrated little bio-boys running around with high-pitched voices...:confused2:
+1 for ditching balls for live rock rubble.

Thank you for the input!I would rather have rock and sand(?)instead of bio balls.I'm just trying figure this out.I'm going to try and get some pics up so it will help. And what about cheato?Do I need it too?And would it go into the middle? All input is well appreciated.

yes(any ol macro will do) and yes.

Bulk reef supply has some good deals. I got their sock mount and it does work just seems to be cheaply made imo compared to some others. what I did on my return side was, using pvc I used two 45s to step it over to my sump.
