I have a 300gph overflow box and a 358 gph return pump. I am trying to raise my display tank water level because I can see the water line below the rim of the tank... however when I add water to the display tank, all it does is raise the sump water level and not the display tank water level. Does anyone what I should do? I could possibly raise my skimmer and raise the sump level but I dont have much room.

You would have to raise the overflow box or at least the point at which the water flows into it. What ever height that is will determine the water level of the display regardless of the sump.

Rich is right. What kind of overflow box do you have? Most have adjustment screws so you can raise and lower it.

I have the Cpr overflow box. Should I have the box as low in the water as possible or as high as possible.

I just installed the same overflow in my father-in-laws tank. It's a nice setup. If you want to raise the water level in your dt then you need to raise the overflow box. There should be two thumb screw where the box sits on the tank. Turn them in to raise it and you level should raise.
