Anyone ever buy these for aptasia control? I wonder if you can get them locally?

I don't know if i spelled this right. My spell checker kept wanting me to say nudie ranch for crying out loud! Lol

Thanks

haha! I've heard that once you run out of aiptasia, they'll slowly starve to death. And when they die, they will release toxins into the tank. But I don't have any personal experience with them.

I just bought 10 of them. I have noticed a few aiptasia missing. I'd say they work.

did you order them? you say you see a few missing, did it take long?

tglynn is correct, first they will need to breed and populate to make a significant impact. As the food supply decreases and the nudis keep breeding....they begin to starve and when they die they will release a toxin that is very dangerous to all inhabitants. Tasseled Filefish, Copperband and Racoon butterflies have worked well for me in the past. Kalwasser paste also works well and is dually beneficial.

I had a group buy on them a few years ago in this club. I think I put like 6-8 of them in my tank. Never reallly seen them afterwards or even noticed any decrease in the aptasia population. However I do know they eat aptasia because while I was holding them for other members, I put one aptasia inside the container and saw them attacking the aptasia.

Often times they become food as well for wrasses as well! Placing them in a system at night would be optimal if you choose to go Nudibranch remedy.
