Hey everyone, I just moved here with my reef.

are there any good stores close to the NE edge of Atlanta? Or do I have to go outside 285?

also, I need sand. caribsea special grade or something similar like tropic eden reef flakes. where's the best place to get that? Do any of the big chain stores like petsmart have that stuff around here?

Thanks!

You picked a great city to live in for a reefer. We have tons of stores/sponsors. Plus if you become a member you'll receive a 10% discount with our sponsors (Mods correct me if I'm wrong).

I haven't visited them all yet, but I'm a HUGE fan of Pure Reef in Alpharetta. Great staff, tons of dry stock, and an out right mouth dropping reef display. Go check them out!

cool, thanks. its a bit far at 30 minutes but it does seem like its worth the drive!

The fish store on chamblee tucker will be closest to you I beleive...
Nice store....you can get their hours and number on the sponsor list

check the sponsor map for the closet but sea atlanta has some good prices on sand. personally i would take a full day and visit all the LFS. check their prices and then compare customer service. make sure you visit imagen ocean in canton. jenn is one of the best

btw, it's 45 mins min. for me to go anywhere. georgia is spread out a good bit.

thanks!

The Fish Store is indeed the closest one to me. I am amazed that there are so many stores though. In Baltimore there are only 2, and each is 30 minutes away from the city. Here in atlanta I've got one within 20 minutes and like 6 or 7 within 30 minutes.

Southern hospitality!

just went to The Fish Store, it was great. some prices for dry goods were kinda high but livestock prices were very fair, for what I saw. I can't wait to see all of the other stores, but I have a feeling this one will be my regular store.

KING REEF 5050 Jimmy Carter BLVD in norcross is very close to you and the prices are amazing

I can say as a regular customer of most all the stores in the area...I really enjoy them all. Each of them have their own specialties and personality. I lived in Northeast AL and would drive to ATL to get fish and corals. If you get a chance check them all out. You will not be disappointed. Oh and the collective knowledge between ARC and all the shops is massive. If you ever have a problem, question or issue... Just post it on here and there will be plenty of people to offer help.

Same here.

I used to rag on my brother who lives in the COUNTRY in SC. I would tell people he didn't live in the middle of nowehere but you could see nowhere from his house. Everytime we would go see him and go out to eat, it was a 30-45 minute trip. Then one day I realized at home just about every time I wanted to go somewhere around Atlanta, it was either farther away or traffic made it the same type of trip(time wise) we would take at his house.

skriz: Why are you deleting people post? We cant mention stores that arent a sponsor? When did that start

Always been that way bud

SEA Atlanta...My favorite. I only buy fish from them...because they QT their shipments of new fish a couple weeks or until the owner decides they are ready to be displayed for sale. This responsible reef keeping has kept me coming back...not to mention they stock some gorgeous fish and corals

There's quite a few around NE Atl sponsors and non sponsors. Nemos on Indian Trail, Atlanta Aquarium on Pleasant Hill Rd.,The Fish Store and Aviarium to name a few. All great stores in different ways. We all have a fave.

I'd always judge a store by the quality of their SPS. If they have thriving Aussie/Indo colonies with great polyp extension, you can rest assured the rest of their stuff is nice. This, of course, isn't true with smaller stores that don't have much demand for acros. With that said my favorites were:

Pure Reef (flawless in all aspects)
Atlanta Aquarium (Rit has been in the game a LONG time and knows his stuff)
The Fish Store (have been stockpiling nice coral, heard good things about their customers service)
