As some of you may have seen from other postings...I've acquired an older Oceanic 75 RR. Well back in 1997 when this tank was made, apparently they did overflows a little differently. The made a corner overflow that angled from the end to the back which was fine except it only covered the supply side and not the return. I've cut the glass overflow out and want to make a standard looking boxed corner overflow that will cover both. I'm going to make it out of glass like the old one was. Who do you have that is reasonable on cutting glass for you? I'm presuming to make this out of the same thickness glass that the tank is constructed of....3/8" thick. I suppose 1/4" would do but probably nothing less.

Before anybody mentions it...I've looked at acrylic ones .... darned expensive .... around $100 to have one made to fit. The tank is heavy enough already and while I'd rather not add any extra weight, the cost just isn't worth it IMO. That is of course unless you guys know somebody that does acrylic at a reasonable price.

Let me know your thoughts.

jeff theres a place acroos the street from
carl black in roswell/alpharetta. they have
been there for yrs.

I use Noble Glass in Buford which is on the same street as the new FishScales location.

Do them out of acrylic..

you only need a single sheet with "teeth" at the top, you'll heat it with a blowtorch to form the bend.

shouldn't be much more than about $40 for the both of them..

I would bed more than happy to cut the glass for you, I have a ton of 3/8 glass in stock

I always use glass and cover in acrylic but many manufactures just silicone the acrylic overflows to the glass, does not hold well but it apparently suffices.

it was a PITA to get the acrylic overflows out of my glass "Oceanic 90" when I re-sealed it, and the tank was manufactured in 1994.

silicone will hold them in place just fine.. (there's no water column pressure on the overflow because the water is for all intents and purposes the same height on both the display and the overflow side of the baffle)

you'll be fine..

I got some baffles cut last week at a place off Spring. I just went buy and talked with them. Smyrna Glass and Mirror. The guy i talked to built an aquarium for a friend a few years back.
