I want to start using carbon in my solana, what is the rundown on best practice. Just fill a media bag and float it in the back? Does it need to be replaced monthly?

It's best to have water flowing through it as opposed to soaking(for lack of a better term).

Rinse the carbon like crazy, otherwise you'll have a black soot-like particulate sticking to everything.

A small pouch or Chemi-pure may be a good choice. I use two of them in my 55 and change out every couple or so months.

I use a small media bag and stick it next to the return pump. Change the carbon every few weeks. Oh that reminds me I need to change mine LOL

If you have never ran it on that system before you might want to initially change it after about 2 weeks. Then you could go monthly after that. The first bit you put in is gonna get used up quick.
