Hello, I'm new to the site and wanted some advice on the best skimmer to get for my 120 gallon reef tank.

Hello, I am new to the Atlanta are and am looking for a good LFS to frequent. Any suggestions?

+1.

The best is very different than the best bang for your buck.

I just added a Reef Octopus 3000int to my 120. It is doing very well. I had a Reef Octopus 110 on there before. I would not recommend it unless you have a very light load. The 3000 may be a tad big but it leaves plenty of headroom for expansion.

For those on a budget, I like Reef Octopus... by budget I mean "money is a factor but I want something good". I would have said SWC (I have one on one tank and really like it), BUT since the owner got busted smuggling protected species I won't give them any more of my money.

High end? MRC, Vertex, Deltec (as said above).

That they do. I am very happy with mine, easy to maintain and made in the USA.
Creation Reef & Aquatics in woodstock has them in stock.

I have had very good luck with the Reef octopus XP line of skimmers, Currently I am using a Super reef octopus XP-2000, and I love it. The Non xp skimmers can be gotten for a little cheaper and they still contain the bubble blaster pump. However I do not regret my purchase at all.
