Best reach extender?

I'm not a fan of the SeaSquirt, a good old turkey baster has a wider opening. I find it clogs if you're trying to suck up meaty foods with it. It does have a little "spear" on the end of it to impale larger meaty foods but the "in between" stuff like krill or mysis doesn't fit inside it and the spear is too thick for it.

It is "telescopic" though - you can stretch it out. If I were to have designed it I would have made it a bit wider.

I owned one of those, and it wasn't as handy as a turkey baster wouldn't go where I needed it and had a tiny bulb end on it, with a tiny hole to squirt through..... I think I'd design one that had a curve to it, to get under overhangs and stuff, maybe even a bendable 2 foot baster....... I'll have to work on this concept.......

Haha! I'm very passionate about the great pacific garbage patch & aqua tongs! :D

I've tried 2 of the coralife tongs. They both suffered from the same inherent flaws. I found the trigger mechanism to stick quite often & not work in a fluid manner. The overall build quality was quite poor; mediocre at best.

I suppose if you are accustomed to mediocracy or you've just set the bar for aqua tongs extremely low, then you'll be pleased with them.

When I purchase something, I want it to work well and last. I don't have time for something that doesn't do what it's supposed to do every time. If that means I have to pay exponentially more, then so be it. It's well worth it. It's why the only powerhead I use is Tunze (except for the one vortech tha I hate) & only Reeflo or bluline pumps. It's the same principle for me.

I have found with any sort of Tongs that a rinse in freshwater after each use helps tremendously....

I used and will may purchase tomorrow from Jenn the Eheim ones. I could remove an appendix with those things. Used them 25 years ago and they got lost the in the move...the tongs, not the appendix. Jenn, does Eheim have longer one? In fact, try wearing the blue and orange pvc armpit gloves while holding the tongs, then walk over to one of yours kid and tell hm that he has something</em> in his nose!

I had a pair simarlar to those dave, but they had a metal cable that operated the claw. It rusted and got too nasty to use in my tank in very short order.

I'm not sure what they're made out of, but they've lasted me since we tore that monster tank down around 3 or 4 years ago. The only corrosion on them is the small nuts/bolts that hold the suction cups on which I could easily replace with stainless but really haven't worried about it. I did find a 36" pair at an older Ace Hardware here in town that I should go and pick up since I can't seem to find them anywhere else.</span>
