what's the best salt mix on the market? (also whats the best affordable mix)

Does any curb salt creep? Some need no buffer in the mix to get the right ph?

I'm looking to stray away from my generic salt to buy something a little healthier for my inhabitants.

Take a look at the study and figure out which you think would be best. Seachem and tropic marin are both the highest in ammonia.

I do have to agree on Reef Crystal since that is what I changed over to after seeing that study.[/QUOTE]

that's fine with me! RC is a great choice!

Just a FYI that I would not base my total opinion on that one study. I use that company as a tool, but they are far from "lab grade" test results. RC was a good choice for you, and I actually switched from TMPR to Seachem Reef in the last month due to some excellent reviews. However, you can't go wrong with RC. I would have switched to that salt except I heard they were having issues with mag. I don't know if it's fixed yet.

dawg i am going to have to agree with you on this one. i have noticed that my corals have started to RTN i am going to have to switch back to seachem reef salt. i was in a delusional state thinking tropic marin was a good salt

Anyone ever tried coralife salt? It seemed to be one of the best in all those tests.

I have more, but I gotta gooooooo, so I'll post 'em later!

I use IO...hell it comes with a free shirt a lot of time.... Coralife salt gets a lot of bad reviews..I stopped using it a long time ago...

At the new store I am going to use Seachem Reef. I got a great deal on 4 pallets (no shipping) :) I currently use Reef Crystals, I like it but I will give Seachem a try. Just my perspective. :D

how much longer till the new store opens up? you're in Snellville right?

DOH! I guess my ordering Seachem Reef from Dr. F&S is very questionable, eh? lol!

dawgdude, there is nothing wrong with tropic marin and i actually believe its one of if not the best salt on the market. It mixes consistently high in magnesium and Ive noticed very consitent levels with tropic marin and varied levels with all the other salts youve mentioned. Also Ive never had traceable ammonia in any batch of tropic marin so i guess what works for some doesnt work for all. i wouldnt go around dissing TM though since its considered by many to be the premier salt brand. As far AWT goes ive read here and over on RC they are particurally inept and people with thriving sps tanks have gotten readings of 275 calcium and 900 magnesium, so i wouldnt base any decisions on what they had to say but if you want another study here you go:

My target is 2 weekend in August to have the Grand Opening, The new store will likely be off Mountain Industrial (Hwy 78 & I-285).

I plan on matching F&S price on Seachem Reef Salt BTW. :)

Funny thing is that they do not make the salt there... I think they outsource it!

Ocean Pure pro reef salt is in my opinion the best salt on the market today.
I have used it in my personal tank and am preparing to start stocking at the store. It is a newer product on the market but I have been very impressed.
