I have 70 gallon reef tank I was wondering everyones opinion on the best salt for reef.

Oh you've opened up a can of worms on this one. Sit back and enjoy the ride!! Personally, I use I/O or Kent. I get the numbers I need and it mixes well. The price isn't bad either.

+1 I switched to salinity a year ago and have been very happy with it. Although the sweat and tears is also true. I think half my water is made of tears...

Only if it's sea salt. LOL...
I just brought a barrel of salinity. Won't start using it until I get my new tank up and going, so I can't report on it's success...
I've been using IO since I've started SW, with no issues, but wanted to try something different, and am hopeful that I won't have to do as much supplemental dosing... Not sure if the dosing part will reign true, but testing will tell...

I've come round full circle. I am back to IO.
I've used a bunch of different brands, but at this point I am looking for minimal. Sometimes less is more. A lot of folks have been mentioning switching from brand to brand and one salt will cause green hair algae, and the other causes diatoms.... IO is the salt with the least amount of additives. It seems like that some of the other guys try so hard to be better than each other that they end up creating minor issues for themselves.
IO is what it is... Cheap and simple.

I have tried them all too. I like Salinity, but prefer Red Sea Coral Pro for smaller nano tanks and can maintain params without dosing with frequent water changes.
If I had a large tank where I needed to dose Ca, Alk and Mg to maintain params I would do Instant Ocean which is old faithful and as mentioned above is proven time and time again.
What I like about Red Sea Pro is that it mixes quickly with no residue and can be added within 30 mins or so. You also don't need to aerate with power heads or anything, just match temp and salinity of tank and your good to go.
I think this topic is always challenging though. I think you can use any salt and as long as you understand and pay attention to your tanks needs you can work with all the brands. They all have nuances.

You are correct 100%!
However, when I do LARGE water changes, it's important to have the same PH and parems which I have only found Salinity to have at such a consistent level.....Also, I only supplimented Calcium and Alk, and all else is great, and Alk is low enough for Carbon dosing. Not too much Borate to throw off Alk...
Yes, any salt will work, but Salinity is best for me.
i use Salinity.i really like the stability from batch to batch.i also love the closer to NSW params.a lot of salts have grossly exaggerated levels.
that said,i absolutely hate the residue.its not a problem,just a nuisance.
