best sea salt

Tagging along? This thread is gonna get interesting? I have a feeling I know which the top two will be. We'll see?

I only have experience with Reef Crystals and no reason for me to want to switch.

Ah yes the age old question. Seriously, why are you asking and what are you trying to keep?

I switched over to ESV B-Ionic Seawater System, and although it's a little extra work, I like it so far as it cleared up some issues I was having with IO. I've used just about every mix out there.

Aquaforest Probiotic Salt!

And it is finally here in the USA!!! These are my people from Poland! Been waiting for them to hit the US market for a long time now.

What is that... did I just spill a teaser of a possible entire new product line at Premier?!

Whoops...

Any idea on price for that salt?

No prices set for it yet. The High-End Probiotic Salt Bucket will be similar price to CoralPro and Salinity. $80-90 More then likely. While the entry level salt will be pretty similar prices to Instant Ocean, they want to be very competitive with it.

Every bucket comes with a piece of paper that tells you the exact date that the batch was made and the exact guaranteed levels for each individual batch. For this reason they don't have guaranteed levels of CA,MG, etc on the bucket... instead you get accurate per batch guaranteed levels. One of the only companies that does this, because they actually make the salt in-house in Poland. It is not sourced out what so ever... like most of the other salt brands do.

I wonder if this going to be similar to the Tropic Marin BIO ACTIF salt?

I used RSCP and switched to Reef Crystals. I see no difference in the two.

Salinity

I do large, frequent water changes (35-40%), so I need a salt that from water change to water change & from batch to batch matches Alk (9 ish), Calcium, Mag, & then of course ph as long as I am exact with the salinity & close on temp.

Plus, I need Alk at 8.5-9 for carbon dosing.

Who carries Salinity by the 200g box? I used it for years but the buckets got way too heavy, I can take the box apart and carry it bag by bag. Lol:D

There isn't one. All of them are fine . Some have higher alk ,some have higher calcium some mix easier than others, some cost more. Pick one you like and stick with it. That way you can design your dosing regime to that salt and keep things inline. I've seen many TOTM that use instant ocean so price means nothing to the corals.

salinity for me. been using it for years.

holley i dont think they make it by the box. but they do have a smaller bucket thats half the size and they now have a tiny bucket thats about 1/10th the size, i think it does about 20 gallons. or you could just order the barrel and have hal roll it into the house for you lol
