I don't like the glass hexes. Too many seams and you can only see the sides at an angle without distortion. In such a small tank, I think the square or cube is the best way to go. In a larger tank, the hex might make more sense to me.
The Vortechs are just too noisey for my tastes (at full speed anyway). If I restarted, I would look at two CLs especially in a smaller tank where powerheads are more noticable.
