What ways do you clean your filter socks?

BTW, not sure if anyone has suggested it, but I have a nice DIY filter sock.

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100131144&marketID=1&locStoreNum=149">http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100131144&marketID=1&locStoreNum=149</a>

So for 10ft @ $5, I can make 5 or so filter socks, cut to custom length, and use a small plastic tie on the bottom end and use a re-useable tie for the top so I can release the sock and replace it.

They also come it 100ft for $20. That's alot of socks!!

cool, ill have to look into that - I wash mine in the washer. Of course no soap. Sometimes i rinse with RO water afterwards but not usually.

Soak in bleach, rinse, let dry.....

The link just took me to a general page, could you repost it please, sounds interesting.

Strange the link was cut off..

If that doesn't work, do a search for Drain Sleeve @ HD. It may tell you there's no matches, but when you enter in your zip code to check the loca store, it'll come up.

Yep washer no soap. Rinse off in sink for good measure and then let dry 24 hours just in case. Done this for many years with no issues.

I wouldn't let my tank gear anywhere near my laundry room personally. Residue from washing detergent is left over in most washers which could lead to phosphate leaching. I made the mistake of leaving a water bladder in our laundry room for a week to dry only to have it with perma detergent taste.

Course newer or different washers probably work differently, but I would stick with a bleach wash and dry as recommended above just to be safe.
