Haha thanks, but I doubt the neighbors would fell the same way or understand. I ended up just boiling the rock and it is currently sitting out in the sun...

You're fine with bleach -I've used it multiple times without any issue.

+1 Did a bleach rinse on my base rock before going in the tank. worked great!

I bleached over 500lbs of rock let it sit for a week just because I was lazy. Then rinsed for maybe 10 minutes and let it dry for a week outside . My tank has been up for almost a year now with no problems.I did add some water conditioner to the water.
