I recently got some really cool Acans from an LFS. For the first couple of days they were doing fine; fleshy bodies exposed and tenticles out. But recently, they have not been out and they seem to be receding back into their skeleton. Something is not right....

Well yesterday I was watching the tank from a distance so the fish would act natural, and I spotted the bi-color angel picking at the acans.....what an %&*!

I have multiple sps and lps frags and the angel hasn't touched any of them (as far as I know).

Are these dwarf angels known to pick at corals? Why did the acans tempt him so much? he must know the price tag....

Is there anything i can do?

Thanks for reading

Silly question, but did he try it once and leave them alone or is he continuing to bother the acans?
I have a handfull of acans in my tank (my weakness) and every once in a while a lord will close up for no apparent reason. They stay that way for the rest of the day and are open and happy the next day.

Angels may pick at corals. I had an angel that picked at many of the corals in my tank, he wound up in the sump and from there I have no idea what happened to him. He disappears. In any event, some angels pick, others do not. Not sure why, someone else may be able to elaborate on that.

he went back for seconds, thirds, fourths; it was pretty much an acan buffet.

I had to pull my clam and all my acans out of the 210 tank because my pair of Flame Angels would nip at them. Bummer but it definitely happens, some times you got to make the hard choices.

Hate to be a vulture (well.....not really:D), but if you have some acans you are forced to part with, give me a shout.

Whats happenin' BobZ? It seems i will have to part with the acans, they are getting worse. Too bad though, they are pretty cool. You gave me a small frag of GSP and kenya tree a year ago. Thank you for your generosity.
This was last week.
