I upgraded the stock pump to add more flow also an inline uv sterilizer.
I'm assuming you took out the bioballs already, if not, do that. I use sump sponges for mechanical filtration and a big bag of seachem matrix for biological filtration. I removed the pre punk sponge and put my carbon and purigen in that slot.
