So I just made the move to LED (well kit ordered last night so not done yet) and now I'm looking at a different direction for filter media. Right now I have a three tier overflow filter thing that holds media. I was running carbon and purigin for a while, but once those were exhausted I just switched to simple sediment filters to pick up scrapped off algae, cat hair, and misc.
Should I run carbon or anything like that? Should I look toward adding the biocube skimmer in the future in place of the filter rack I have now.
fwiw, this is some sort of "upgrade" filter setup that the original owner put in it, so I'm not partial toward it, it's just what I have
I can take pics if it helps, but it seems self explanatory to me.
Edit: And if I go skimmer, would loosing the sediment filter have a negative impact? They do pick up a lot of gunk.
