Black crab with red eyes - Looked like it should be in a horror film

I notice that I have a black crab with red eyes in my 100G that I need to catch. I also have 4 cleaner shrimp in the tank. How do I catch the red eye crab with out catching the shrimp? I put some food in a glass. The glass has a long neck so the crab will not be able to get out. However, the shrimp where in the glass not the crab. The crab is in a hole in a base rock. It would be tough to pull out the rock. Any ideals?

Unfortunately, my best advice would be patience. You just have to keep resetting the trap or you could make several coke bottle traps(depending on the size of the crab) bait thhem with different kinds of food.
Maybe one food will be more attractive to the crab. I find shrimp pellets are irresistable to most shrimp and crabs. Maybe with more traps, one will get the crab.

Coke bottle trap: cut the bottle near the top where it starts to angle down. Invert the top portion in the bottom.

look in the hitchhiker guide in the new member area......look for the black rock crab,.....i had a few of those in my tank....killed most of them with a makeshift trident.....the other one thats in my sump i actually caught him with chopsticks.....haha
