Black paint for background

cheapest can of black spraypaint on the shelf always works for me

+1 or if you don't want to paint you can use window black out tint from Home Depot or Lowes....I did it on my present tank and it took about 10 mins and is easy to remove, statically holds to glass. I have had it for about 3 mos so far with no issues of it falling off. It cost about $15.
 
Home depot... black satin... need touch up time to time but works good for me ^^
 
I went with the Krylon as well... I think I paid $4 for two cans for my 120g...

I put the "privacy tint" on my tank about a year ago.. (maybe more, now..)

never had the first issue with it.. and I also "mag float" the back of my tank.. it's never once been an issue..

Edit: depending on how much you need, I've got plenty left...
 
I used Flat Black Rustolium from a can. Rollered on 2 coats ~7 years ago and still holding strong. No peeling or cracking, etc.
 
no peeling or cracking here either...


and I can take it off in less than 2 seconds if I ever want to..
