Black Sponge

This black looking sponge is suffocating my zoas and ricordea mushrooms, any idea how to get rid of it?

If you can take out the ro k that it's on I'd do that and pick it off or scrub it with a wire brush. Be sure to wear PPE if you do. IDK, if a sponge can be harmful or not but it's worth mitigating the risk.

Well I found out the rock is supporting the structure above it and my echinata coral on the sand has attached half of itself to it. So I can not take it out, I injected it with some aptasia x (read somewhere that might work) and some peroxide. It seems to be receding somewhat so we'll see.
