I have recently got my Biocube back ready to add corals. I gave most of the livestock a few years ago, but kept the tank going. I added an emerald crab to work on keeping the hair algae at bay, but he seems to be kind of meek. He hides all the time and I have not seen him working on the algae.

Does anyone have an emerald crab that is hard working that needs some work to do? (A while before, we had a sea hare that people would share to keep algae under control) Can I hire your algae mower?:D

In all honest though you aren't really fixing the problem. There are excess nutrients that are feeding the algae so you may be able to lower your nutrient load and see some favorable results.

I agree on the nutrient removal. I have recently done 2 water changes to get the nitrates in line. I physically removed most of the HA, but I need someone to keep it under control. I have used and shared sea hares in the past. I hope the Emerald will get to working, but I know I need to add a few more snails.
