How do I know if the copapods are alive and in the tank? I have added two bottles and feed them plankton. I made a newbie mistake and got a pipe fish online and not sure if he is eating.

Look on the glass near the sand and see if you can find little white moving specs which are your copepods. Depending on the volume of your system, you might have to add some more bottles to get the tank to have enough for your fish. Heisenberg sells copepod bombs which can populate the system pretty quickly. You can also buy those copepod hotels for your sump or use marine pure balls or pond matrix etc to help keep the levels of pods up.

Got the copapod hotel. We shall see the pipe looks like he is eating

Unfortunately, it can be hard to tell if you have pods or not sometimes. If you have green algae coating the glass then I feel it is easier as the pods with coat the glass. If not, like me, then, you have to have faith sometimes. I know I have pods as my Divided Leopard wrasse tears up the rocks and sand. I dose 3 Algae Barn jars of pods every 6 weeks.

Take a look at the POD Bomb from local company Heisenberg Aquaculture.

They've been in and out. Have a feeling they hit some bumps in the road starting up. The business is less than 5yrs old and it's easy to lose cultures.
Fully understandable, I was just curious as they are in Roswell.

The fact that we actually have a start up of this nature, WE all need to support it. I know I will.;)

Shari/Adam, thanks for the shout out but we did have to close it down, not enough interest to keep it going. I do want to add to this that when you do a water change if you siphon and clean your sand bed check your exported water before dumping it. Shine a flashlight across the top surface horizontally and you’ll see a bunch of small specks jumping around. If they are rolling around in a spinning circle they are likely rotifers (still good) but if they dart quick they are some species copepods. I do still have a small culture of Apocs still going.

If you ever did to sell again please do let me know
