I was think about starting a breeding tank setup.
Do you think this would work?
10 gallon tanks with a 30-55 gallon sump
Sorry for the rough picture!

I have no experience with a breeder setup or even how do LFS setup multiple tanks for plumbing, but I wonder if you want the first tank draining into the second, into the the third and so on or if you want them all plumbed into a dedicated drain individually. Other thing I would be careful of is having a large enough sump to handle the overflow from all those tanks if the power were to be shut off for whatever reason.

+1 to what Tony said. In the event of power/pump failure all tanks will drain.

What are you trying to breed?

+1 to the above.

If you don't have it already, I'd recommend getting Wittenrich's book, "The Complete Illustrated Breeder's Guide to Marine Aquarium Fishes". Lots of good information in one place.

I have some systems perfect for breeding if you want to come take a look

Just pm if interested

I'll say that the fish lab at UGA has a pretty awesome (essentially) plug and play setup that has air gaps to (I think) 100 micron filters. It allows for individual tanks to be removed/replaced without breaking all the plumbing down. If I ever set up a large quarantine setup, that's the route I'd take.
