Bristle worms on night shift

You have to be feeding WAY too much to have that many bristle worms. They're eating something to multiply like that....

Once a day, only what they clear out in 5 min. What type of schedule would you suggest?

You can urinate in the tank and can't kill them. They used to breed like rabbits to! I am going set a FW or African tank up in my basement. You got me thinking (The SA are nice too!)

You need to cut way back on the food...they will die off


What else is in the tank besides worms that you are feeding?????

Also what kind of food & how much are you putting in????

From all I have read and heard, I sure wouldn't nuke my tank or give up. All of the above suggestions can work wonders. You want to have a few but they can be controlled pretty easy. JMO

Yep, *waaaaaayyyyyyy* over-feeding.

I haven't seen that many in one spot since I kept a small seahorse tank in the shop. Those needed "over" feeding, so the worms were a given (and they cleaned up leftovers).

Get a wrasse, I think my melanurus wrasse would have a field day in there.

Making sure you have enough water flow to the corners and nooks/crannies should help too. The more "dirt" in the water column, the more your filters and skimmers can clear out which will also starve em. You'll never get rid of all and you probably wouldn't want to.

You couldn't pay me to move stuff around in that tank!!! I'd feed less and maybe look into a sixline wrasse(or any other, they're just cheap and in my experience eat a lot of bristle worms). He'll be fat and happy in no time.

I already have a 6 line wrasse, had it before the worms came into the tank on a rock that I purchased from LFS. This is what my tank looks like by day. How long should I not feed the fish, or should I just cut it way back?
purple tang, yellow tang, naso tang, powder blue tang, orange shoulder tang, wrasse, 5 P.J. cardnals, lyer tail anthies, mandarin, royal gamma, coral banded shrimp (also there before the rock purchase, damsel that I wish the worms would eat. F&S liveaquaria suggested buying some dottybacks....I did and all they have done is dig, never saw them eating squat..
Bubbleblaster 2000, GFO, carbon, uv sterilizer. water change 25% everyweek. Small refug. keep it filled with cheeto and pods.

i don't know what size your tank is, but that looks like a lot of big fish in a small area. You could have a high bioload that is helping to sustain the worms... I don't think I'd ever turn the lights out - that night shot looks like dowtown baghdad on a bad day...

75 gal. And I know what you are going to say next.. I win the bioload of the month. I live in Valdosta where Smoothie has a resturant called Austins...he has huge tank and when my fish get to big I put them in Smoothie's tank. Eat often and get to see my fish family.
Everything I have is for a 110 to 125. When I purchased I was thinking that I would expand. Yes, I even use the turkey baster in the sump. Bubba
