A minute ago my glass top for my tank broke in half and part fell in the tank. My question is anyone have any ideas on why it broke.

you didn't hit it or anything?? Maybe it was already stressed-how old is the tank/lid?

The tank lid wasn't even a year old. The orginal broke when I was cleaning it, but then I got the one that just broke, it is about 8 months old.

<p style="text-align:left;">Not sure exactly here is the info for it I got off the coralife website for it. (Anyone want to tell me what it is)

96 watt 10,000K and 96 watt True Actinic 03 Blue square pin base compact fluorescent lamps

36 inch one

2nd from bottom

I wouldn't think that would make it break-kinda odd-you say the other glass broke when you got it?? May be just cheap glass

The one I was cleaning was over a year old the one that broke today is AGA so was the other one.

that's just odd-maybe someone else has some insight--I've never heard of that-

Is it a store bought lid or a cut piece of glass? The only thing I can think of is imperfections in the cutting of the glass that made a stress point. I really have no clue :) . I'm just trying to help you brainstorm.
Actually I think its gremlins, goblins or something of that sort. :D

If you cleaned it while it was hot, the sudden change in temperature will make it break every time!

Or aftershocks from the big bang?

The old one my cousin droped. He wants a saltwater tank but his dad won't let him have one untill he learns more about it.
