Brown diatoms on glass

So what causes brown diatoms? I run a well balanced system and rarely have any issues but I can't seem to rid my tank of this issue. I'm running GFO and charcoal through two TLF reactors. I'd like to hear about some causes and remedies.

Silicates cause diatoms. Do you happen to dose for sponges?

Same issue here so I will tag along. Constantly scraping brown stuff off my glass but I don't see it anywhere else.

No I do not. The only dosing I do is Tech M Magnesium and 2 part BRS (Alk and CA).
