Brown or grenish algee problem

In my 34 gal reef im having a brownish or greenish algee problem it is so thick you can't see thur the water fish seem fine eatting good and all I have 250 watt MH over the tank Ive never had this problem
whats the cure

Just some ideas I've heard from others: Cut light time to 8hrs a day, Check nitrate levels, get a UV sterilizer (it'll help, but if your nitrates are high, fix that first).

Try searching the forums, I've seen a handful of threads like this, I am sure that'll have better ideas.

i have this to but my tank is only been up a week is that norm

I hear it is more normal in newer tanks than not. Just cut light time down, check nitrates (as algae loves nitrates), do regular water changes w/ RO water (plus salt of course) and it should go away.
