I was looking at the Alkalinity dosing calculator on BRS and was wondering if the result of the calculator was for dry product or pre-mixed based on "Recipe-1-Instructions". If it tells me I need to dose 1 oz to raise my alkalinity I would suspect that to be 1 oz of the mixed solution but wanted to be sure before moving forward.

Thanks Chris.

I'm setting up an auto dosing system and planned on dosing in the sump near my return pump. Any concerns about that? Is it better to dose into the tank near a powerhead? Should I be concerned of calcium buildup in the pump or the return lines? Considering the rate of 1.1ml per minute I didn't think so.

I'll be dosing BRS 2 part Soda Ash and Calcium, 1 hour between the two in the AM hours prior to my lighting turning on.

Anyone have any advice?

I wouldn't worry about calcium buildup; just make sure that none of the calcium comes to rest on the top of the pump. If you weren't planning on it, I'd dose alk at night and calcium during the day. The calculator has an option for the dry; make sure you choose "2-part" from the drop down.

I like this calculator better, it's based on more products
