Got some of this yesterday. Any recommendations on how to run it in a reactor. Was gonna use a two little fishies but this stuff goes right thru the filter pads. i just threw it in a media bag in the sump but know it would be better in a reactor. my total system volume is 250 gall. and they recommend 1.5 cups. i thought you were supposed to run water as fast as you can thru carbon without it tumbling. that would be really slow with this stuff

I packed my reactor full and let her rip. make sure the output goes into a filter sock to catch any fines that make it thru the filter pad.

which reactor do you use. thats what i did with the two little fishies and the carbon went straight thru the filter pad.

If you have the small TLF reactor that's probably too small from what you are describing.

Get a bigger reactor, or turn your flow down. No reactor should pass particulates of any kind, whether GAC, GFO or whatever.

Fwiw-
I've always had good results with Marineland-Black Diamond (?) GAC.

GAC that is produced with extremely small particle size is a mixed blessing. On the one hand it adsorbs at a very fast rate, but on the other it is so lite that it can get entrained in the flow very easily as well.

Just my $0.02

The TLF would work fine but the pads that come with it allow the small carbon to pass. I ran seachem carbon before and didn't have the problem. Guess I need to modify it with some filter pads with smaller holes.

Get a better reactor. No point buying good medias then hindering the performance with faulty equipment.

Use a bars reactor. The new cartridges are really nice and the slits won't any of the rox carbon through

just modified my TLF with some other filter pads i had laying around. working good. thanks for all the replies

yeah add some more filter pads and you're good. Also, sandwich the media with the pads and put the flow up.

well i see you have it fixed but i was going to say that they also sell some finer screens for the TLF for use with their bioplastics that might work.

i just had some foam laying around and cut it down to the same height.

Any LFS or petsmart should carry something you can hack up and use.

Or just double up the foam pads, that is what I did when I ran rox. IMHO rox is not worth the cost. I have much better luck with the cheaper stuff, just got to rinse it a tad more.
