Ok...I have had some "success" eradicating the bryo growth. I want to try the H-peroxide method. It doesn't look like my hammer coral likes the elevated Mg levels or whatever TechM's secret ingredient is. Someone suggestion the HP treatment. I was hoping for detailed instructions for treating in the DT. Maybe these questions will help:

How is it applied (syringe)?

How much is applied, what volume?

How frequently is it applied?

Do I shut off my skimmer and circulation pumps

Do I remove any filter media?

Is the HP diluted? If so with fresh or saltwater? What is the ratio?

Do I perform a water change after the application?

I read several long threads on RC, but they weren't recent. I was wondering if there are any more recent developments.

Thank you for reading!

usin ing hydrogen peroxide In the dt can be dangerous as a little is really a lot.
H2o2 kills age with out discrimination be it in corals on rocks and Sand it can also kill your sponges and biological filter if too much is Used.
The best way to use itis outside the display at full strength so the rock has time to soak. 10 min to kill alge 30min to fully kill the rock. This also works on power heads
CAUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $$$!!!!!!!
Do at own risk
All corals that come in to contact with 3% h2o2 will die
To treat a dt with hydrogen peroxide you must go slow day 1-3 add 1/2 ml per 5 gal 2 times a day minim 12 hrs apart. Day 3+ add 1/2 ml per 2 gal 2 times a day 12 hrs apart
NEVER DOSE MORE THEN 1 mL PER GAL EVER CORALS WILL DIE FISH WILL SUFFER HYPOXIA BLEED FROM GILLS AND DIE

Hydrogen peroxide works in reef tanks the same way it cleans cuts for us by killing single celled organisms
Randy holms did a large right up on it h202 and reef tanks was the ttile

Wrong. I've dipped zoa frags in 3% h2o2. Favia in 50/50 tank water/3%h2o2 for 5 minutes

Zoa are related to nems more so then corals sum can handle it lots cannot though
As far as the Favia wen u diluted the h2o2 with tank water it is no longer 3% I have seen Favia die after 1% concentration for 5 min
The average peroxide coral dip is 1 oz to 10 oz tank water that's .3% concentration
Peroxide is a oxidizer it kills algae by increasing o2 levels in the tank causing the cells to burn out

i have had success using a dip of 1 part h2o2 and 4-5 parts tank water dip for 3 to 4 mins. and for really stubborn algae repeat a few days later

Edit: also have a small cup of tank water to rinse your corals in before you place them back in the tank. its not really necessary but its good to get any leftover h2o2 off and also any algae that has been loosend should come of fairly easily

I've never used it, and never seen it used in a salt tank. But I have seen it in planted tanks. I saw a guy just using a spray bottle, put the nozzle underwater and just hose any algae he saw down. Apparently it works really well there.

I spot treated with peroxide this past spring and then put in sally light foot crab. Been bryopsis free since then.

I did two things. Take the coral out and either dip it just enough not to get it on my coral or use a syringe to apply the peroxide where I wanted it. And I drained the tank down exposing it on the LR and again using a syringe spot applied peroxide to the bryopsis. Then just filled the tank back up with the original tank water.

It will definitely bleach out the LR and kill off some pods that maybe lurking in the bryopsis.

How is it applied (syringe)? With a syringe (and a tip) I used just enough to soak the bryopsis in the tank. Dipping it I did dilute the peroxide some with tank water, roughly 50/50. I dipped zoas/plays without an issue but with my acro I just dipped the bryosis not the whole coral.
How much is applied, what volume? See comments above
How frequently is it applied? First time doing it I was a little scared so my trial pieces I did twice. The tank was only once.
Do I shut off my skimmer and circulation pumps. Did not work treating it underwater. I tried. Just got too diluted.
Do I remove any filter media? I did not.
Is the HP diluted? If so with fresh or saltwater? What is the ratio? see comments above.
Do I perform a water change after the application? I did not at first but did the next day. Again, I did not have a lot to treat most patch sizes where about 1" in diameter. And there was maybe 5 or six in the tank some where really close to encrusted corals.

I did not specifically time the process but it was only a few minutes. Not more than 10 for sure when I drained the tank down.

I can say I did not lose anything. No fish, no inverts, no corals (SPS, LPS, Zoa, sponges) nothing. But I did take it easy trying one coral at a time first over a few days, gauging any side effects.
