Bubble Algea needs to go away.....

yea i dont think there are many if any other creatures that will take care of bubble algae for you but if you have big groups of it i would just remove those by hand and be careful not to break any of them otherwise they will release spores

Edit: oh but the usual methods of algae control will also work on bubble algae such as cutting off your lights for a few days adding gfo to your system and even carbon dosing will starve help to starve it out but make sure youre running a skimmer otherwise your tank will be cloudy when you carbon dose

if you can remove the bubble algae manually i would give it a try but just remember to not burst the bubble mark calahan did a great video on removing it manually heres a link for ya <div class="gc_ifarem_title">4 Ways to Remove Bubble Algae From Your Reef Tank - YouTube</div>

People Allways say becarefull not to bust it . But when emerald Crabs eat it they pop them and eat it . So my question is are they doing more harm than good? I had two emeralds take care of mine in no time and havnt seen any sense and I watched them pop it and eat it.

I was wondering about that too..... That will be something worth watching on video, emerald crabs eating bubble algae.... =)

It's interesting to see they just grab a piece rip it off and chow down. But they do stay there eating it till there's not any left .

Did you watch the video?!?! Man that guy REALLY REALLY does not like bubble algae!! :lol2:

well the thing is bubble algae, like anything else, starts out small and grows bigger. so when the emerald crab pops one and it spreads, the new bubbles will be small and easy to grab for the emeralds and they can take it down much quicker most of the time before you even notice it. i had an emerald die on me a few weeks ago and after his death i noticed a few bubbles start to show up which means that even though i never saw any of the bubble algae after i put him in there to eat it it was still there.

I finally got an Emerald crab!! =) I will let everyone know later how it's going....Stay Tuned!!
