Hey guys

Where should I keep my bubble line on the reef octopus 160 extreme skimmer? Right now, I have it about 1" from the top of the collection cup. Is this too high? Where should I turn it back to?

I have the skimmer in about 10" of water. The air is turned maybe halfway closed. Is it better to raise the skimmer and let the air run full blast?

Thanks
Mike

yeah that's too high. try adjusting it to the bottom of the collection cup, about even with the 0-ring. You want larger bubbles rising through the cup. How long has this been running? If you haven't purchased the atb purple pinwheel yet, it makes a huge difference from the stock.

I'll try to snap a picture later, I just fed the horses' some mysis so bubble column fell off a bit.

Cool. Thanks for the tip. I think i'm gonna try raising it up a inch or two more as well so I can get more air flowing through.

The skimmer has been running for about 3 months. Is acrylic the only thing thats reef safe that I could use to raise the level of the skimmer to be higher out of the water?

Ive got mine sitting on a stand made out of thick PVC pipe for the legs and Eggcrate for the top.

make a stand for it and set the water level just above the cone but below the o-ring. Mine has been there for a year now and skims well. Also try the mesh, you'll love it.....or your tank will anyway.
