Went to the GA aquarium behind the scene tour and fell in love with a tank with nothing but sun coral. I want to do something similar with a bubble tip anemone tank. I have a collection of 4 at this time. Will the nems sting each other or should I be safe to add more?

As long as they don't touch, no issues. It is possible that even touching won't be a problem, but I'm outside my experience at that point.

I know the same species can touch... I've had four RBTAs healing in the same basket at once. They were from the same animal, but I have seen one medium tank with 17 BTAs in it before (all she did was raise anemones, no fish or coral in the tank).

I had upwards of 6 at one time in my tank in a corner. they were different type of bubble tips. types as in color. 2 red, 2 red/green/purple, and 2 green. they all touched and were added to to the tank at different times and never any problems. unless you counted the powerhead suicides. -__- in fact when I get a bigger tank I plan on getting a few more

good luck

I have 9 in my BC and they do fine as long as they are the same Type. RBTA, GBTA ect.

Not sure why or if maybe mine just do it on purpose but my stay color matched

Thanks guys. I have all different colors(deep red rose, green base with white mouth and orange speckled body, orange base with broken green pattern body and purple tips, green base with yellow body and orange tips) for the moment. I have them in a 36 bow front with 4 bulb t-5s. I have seen different color variations in the baskets before but figured there is limitation at some point. They are no way close to touching but I wanted to add more. I like to ask first and then do for the most part. Got another question. I got the rose nem a couple years ago. It was deep red with almost a black mouth. It turned pale when hosted by the clowns. I placed it from the 150 reef into the 36 without clowns and it went back to the deep rich color. I added my onyx clown and within a couple weeks it has faded again. Is that normal?

It could be that your clown is beating up the anemone. From what I have read (I'm not an expert) your anemone should be twice the size of the clown its hosting to give it a fighting chance...3x if its hosting 2 clowns.

No problem being bigger. The thing is about 8" across and its foot is anchored about 10" below that. The onyx clown is just about 1 1/2" long.
