I picked up a DIY CA Reactor from South Georgia this past weekend. It is massive 6" dia. dual chamber over 20" tall. ...(Just incase you are wondering that is over 16 gallons of space inside the reactor). I have a 180 gallon with a 150 gallon sump, so my question is can you have a CA reactor too big and should I or can I use only the prmary chamber and not use the second one?

So, after doing some research with this much media I should be OK with just one chamber. But I'm going to leave the option open to incorporate the secondary chamber if needed.

Use the second chamber. It does not dissolve much. It helps raise the pH back up before returning the effluent to the tank.

Try running the reactor at a pH of 6.8-6.9 at first and see what it does to your KH. Slowly lower the pH of the reactor until you achieve your consumption rate.
