Can anyone ID this hitchhiker?

As we move tanks this evening to the new house, hackman found this crazy guy on one of our pieces of live rock... He is roughly an inch long and half an inch or more wide, his center mass is also a hard shell, and he has a death grip! Does anyone know what this crazy creature may be? If he's good, bad?

Might be a limpet.

It's a cinton harmless, sand sifter.

I think you're right Colin. Sp. "chiton" - I just googled it. Looks more like that than a limpet.

Yep, looks like a chiton. They are fine however they can gouge acrylic tanks

Yikes... how the heck do they accomplish that? Eat through it? Wow... glad we have glass... lol
