This opened and I was finally able to snap a decent pic of it. Got it in a cup from the frag meeting, it's the pink one on the right.. Between this and the pagoda, I think I ended up with some decent pieces.

Yes it is, very pink, took about 3 weeks before it started opening up, where the pagoda was open the day after it went in.

The polyps look like a flower pot, but they don't have the long stems, and when it's closed, it's definitely different than the pagoda, so I don't think it's that.

Don't remember what it said on the cup as it was late when I got home and the lights were out, so after floating, everything just went in on the frag rack without much organization.

I'm pretty sure that's either alveopora or goniopora. I don't think we knew which it was at the time of cutting. Nothing else we had would match that. The pagodas weren't pink. Nice!

I have the same piece and for the life of me I cannot figure out what it is either. The top of my specimen cup said favia. I would really like to know as well. I agree that it is very pretty. Almost looks like Zoa's.

Jess, I don't think it is either that you mention. I just looked them up on line really quick and neither resemble what I have.

Image google favia, it's definitely not that. Can you upload a pic of yours? Maybe we could get a better look!

I just tried taking several pics, none of them turned out well at all. I will try and upload them to flickr. Give me a few minutes.

its not alveopora, they only have twelve tentacles/arms on each polyp.

Goniopora has 24.

It looks alot like my pagoda cup coral, but mine is blue (when viewed in one direction) and pink from another very cool coral.

Can you get a top down picture?

<span style="color: blue">I am quite sure you are right. I just checked it out on google images like Jess mentioned. I found this site that has some good pics of what I believe mine is. Here is the link http://www.livestockusa.org/PAGODA.html">http://www.livestockusa.org/PAGODA.html</a> I am pretty sure that I have the pink one. </span>

<span style="color: #0000ff">Jess - you guys certainly did an outstanding job with the corals for the meeting. Even though I lost my zoa's it had nothing to do with the way they were cut, it had to do with my flame angle eating them. So Kudos to you and the others.</span>

I'll try and get a top down. I got a pagoda cup as well and the two look nothing alike. My pagoda cup is blue/green and this is very pink. Also, when the polyps are retracted, like at night, the two look different. The polyps on the pagoda have some size to them when it's expanded, where as the polyps on this piece look very thin, almost like flower petals.

It's of course possible that the one I got as "Pagoda" is not that either, in which case, this may be.

No, what you described as pagoda sounds like it. I saw some very pink alveopora at creation.

Could have, it's so hard to tell from that shot. If you took a pic with polyps pulled in, I could would be able to tell better. What's throwing me off of pagoda is the bright pink, but just 'cause I ain't seen it, don't mean it ain't so!
