it looks like either a closed up green button polyp or a closed majano.. Did you buy it or find it on live rock?

Anemones can sometimes lose their tentacles as well. Either way, if it was me, I would get rid of it just in case

its been there for weeks and its never looked any different than in the pic

Edit: well if it was an anemone my peppermint shrimped should have munched it like all the others ... idk

If it interests you, then let it grow. If it turns out to be a majano or other nasty you should be able to kill it before it spreads.

I may be crazy (most of you think so I am sure) but my first impression was a baby candy cane coral. Is the stem hard and the top soft?

Looks like a tiny candy cane to me too

when i touched it it retracted a teeny bit, its very soft on top, and i couldnt get to the stem.

Check it out at night. See if the top looks flattened out and if it has tiny tentacles sticking out of it ( when the lights are out)

like sweeper tentacles or reg tentacles?

That's what the smart money is on. If it was me, I would get rid of it. At best it's a single head of coral you could pick up for a few bucks.
