i just set up my tank. filled my tank area with enough rock. put some rubble rock in my fuge. and now i see got some extra rock. can i go ahead and stick it in the sump? will this hurt or help anything?

extra rock in your sump will add extra natural filtration. The trade off is you lose some water volume.. personally I would , and did, put it in the sump:)

I have my extra liverock in my sump. I don't have any hard evidence, but I am a firm believer in having lots of liverock in a system.

Add a light and some macros and you have elements of a mini fuge. Live rock itself does not require light to maintain it's filtering abilities.

When adding rock to the sump. Try and add smaller pieces if you can...golf ball size roughly. This makes a great breeding ground for pods which will help eat detritus and some will make it into the display and serve as food.

I ran into the same thing. Bought too much LR from a guy on the ARC and ended up having to put some of it in my sump. It's a great place to store it and also have the filtering benefits.
